Kapu(udupi) (often pronounced as Kapu in the local Tulu language), is a town in Udupi district of Karnataka, India. It lies on the way between Udupi and Mangalore beside National Highway 66 (previously NH-17). It is 13 km south of Udupi, a town famous for its ancient Krishna Temple and 40 km north of Mangalore, chief port city of Karnataka.
Kapu(udupi) beach lies on the shore of the Arabian Sea & it has a very famous lighthouse. Many films have been shot at this location. It is about 15 km from the university town of Manipal and is a favorite hangout for students.
There is no direct flight connectivity to Kapu. The nearest airport is in Mangalore, about 40 km from the city centre. Taxis to Kapu are easily available at Mangalore Airport.
Closest railway station is Udupi at a distance of 21kms. Mangalore railway station is 44kms and it takes less than an hour to reach.

Things to Do
The Kapu light house is a must visit. The beach is tranquil and very clean. The beach also sports a shack and a bar with seating to the open sky. Besides the lighthouse, Kapu is known for its three Mariamma temples and a fort built by Tippu Sultan.
