Murdeshwar is a town in Bhatkal Taluka of Uttara Kannada district in the state of Karnataka, India. The town lies on the coast of the Arabian Sea and is famous for the world’s second tallest Shiva statue, located on the beach and overlooking the entire town.
Netrani Island is one of the best places in India for Scuba diving. Being a coral island, the area is perfectly suited for snorkeling and scuba diving.
Best Time to Visit Murudeshwar is during winter in the months of November to February, the climate is pleasant and varies around 14 degrees to 28 degrees Celsius.
Murudeshwar diving season is from October to May.

Things to Do
When in Murudeshwar, one can’t miss the 123 feet high statue of Lord Shiva. Besides the Murudeshwar beach, temple and gardens, one should visit the Murudeshwar fort and Bhatkal beach about 14km from the city centre. Also famous is the Jamia Masjid, one of the oldest mosques in the area, a sprawling three storeyed structure with a basement. Find here some Persian inscriptions, ancient history and peaceful spirituality.
